Maybellin Fit me Matte + Poreless Foundation

Hello Beauties,

The month has just begun, just like that I turned 28 a couple of days ago, I can’t believe May is upon us, at this rate we will soon be exchanging Christmas greetings. I must say it’s been an eventful year so far and I have lots of grounds to cover.

So a dear friend decided to buy me makeup for my birthday Yeay!!! I made sure I got a couple of items on my wish list, items I had always wanted to try but for some reason haven’t been able to bring myself to buy them: Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless foundation was one of them as I’ve heard it work wonders on oily skin. After making several trips to Maybelline stand at the mall and their store in Surulere and still couldn’t get matched because they were out of stock, I decided to find my shade by watching a couple of YouTube videos… I know bad idea… I ended up going for the shade Coconut 355.

Unfortunately for me the shade coconut isn’t an exact match to my skin tone so I got another one in the shade spicy brown. I'll find a way to use them both: with the economy I can’t be wasteful. Let’s get right into it:

INGREDIENTS: Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Nylon-12, Isododecane, Alcohol Denat., Cyclopentasiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, PEG-20, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Phenoxyethanol, Magnesium Sulfate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Titanium Dioxide, Methylparaben, Acrylates Copolymer, Tocopherol, Butylparaben, Aluminum Hydroxide, Alumina, Silica, Glycerin. May Contain: CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499/Iron Oxides].

PACKAGING: Maybelline fit me Matte + Poreless foundation comes in rectangular transparent glass containers with a pour out spout and a black screw cap. I used to complain but after using Mac studio fix plus with Spf 15 I learnt to pour it on the back of my hand a little at a time.

FORMULA: It is formulated with blurring micro-powders that’s meant to mattify, erase pores and absorb oil for a naturally matte and poreless-looking finish. This is mainly for oily skin. If you have dry skin, try the Dewy & Smooth formula.

I love the fact that it doesn’t have that harsh chemical scent and it’s a medium coverage foundation perfect for days when I want it. I love how smooth this foundation feels when applied to the skin and the matte finish it has once it is set but that’s about it. I tend to take way too much product than I need because it doesn’t come with a pump. I know I have pores large enough to sink a ship but the idea of using this was to make it less visible but it didn’t do anything to help. 2 hours into the day, I couldn’t see the foundation on my face… don’t ask me where it went cos I have no idea!!! I went right back to been oily in less than 3 hours. I will stick to my Mac studio fix plus until I find something better.

Overall, this foundation didn’t work for me. But I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. Here's a look I created using it.

  • Great for combination/oily skin
  • Matte finish
  • Relatively affordable

  • No pump
  • Doesn’t last long on my face
  • No oil control
  • Didn’t minimize my pores

  1. Funny, i have been hearing rave reviews on this foundation i was beginning to think i was losing out. I think i will hold off for a while. Thanks for the review

  2. I agree with doesn't work for my oily face too. Sadly, I got it as a gift. Hours after using my face becomes oil factory.
