Koji San Lightening Soap

11/09/2016

Months ago, five to be exact, I was fed up with my uneven skin tone and permatan. At some point my close friends nicknamed me "Map of Africa". Don’t believe me? Check my previous photos. After much research I found a couple of safe natural skin lightening agents. Now I'm on a journey to change it one natural way at a time.

Kojic Acid was discovered in Japan, It is a by-product in the production of Malted Rice, for use in the manufacture of Japanese rice wine. Kojic acid prevents the formation of pigment on our skin, thus lightening it over time. It's a mild bleaching agent as well since it is an acid. It works directly on skin and that makes it vastly different from glutathione, which must be taken intravenously for it to work. I've used at least 2 to 3 bars of the Kojie.san lightening kojic acid soap. It works great to lighten my scars. I really like it as it is a more natural way to lighten my acne scars.

Ingredients:
Pure kojic acid, sweet Orange, VCO, glycerin, vegetable extracts, vitamin C.

Life San:

Depending on the usages, this 125g soap can last up to a month. I cut it into 5 bars and used it morning and evening, it lasted 3.5 weeks for me.

Texture & Odour:
Its a rectangular, orange colored soap that  lathers well. It has a light fruity scent. What's different though is that after I washed it off, my skin feels like I exfoliated it thoroughly! You know the feeling after a body scrub? That's the one

How I used it :

I bath with it twice daily (inconsistently). Using an exfoliating sponge on my body, to remove dead skin cells. Leave on skin for 2 - 4 minutes & rinse off. I sometimes apply on face as a mask & leave for some minutes & rinse off. Not to be used for children under 10 years of age.

Pros:
·         Lightens hyper-pigmentation.
·         Its inexpensive
·         Firming or tightening effect.
·         Cleans effectively, helps remove dead skin cells

Cons:
·         Dryness of the skin( Use moisturizer to prevent it).
·         Some stinging sensation after use ( I didn't experience this but my colleague did).
·         May cause skin breakouts (None yet).
·       Melts fast in a moist environment. I keep mine in an air tight container. Kojie San’s kojic soap contains glycerin, a natural humectants which dissolves easily when combined with water or alcohol. This explains why this soap melts faster than any commercial soap.

My thoughts:

I really like the appearance of how taut, clean, smooth and almost pore less my skin appears after rinsing. I would recommend this lightening soap for starters who want to achieve a lighter skin tone. Do not use daily on your face It dried out my face too much. Try to use this at nighttime to avoid sunlight right after lightening your skin, remember to use plenty of sunscreen and moisturize after every bath. I rate this product 4/5

    1. Its currently my go to soap. Stores in Osu carries it but it might not be the kojie sans brand. All you need to look put for is the active ingredient kojic acid. it should be the first or second ingredient listed.

  2. It cleans like no other. The price is a little steep but it's worth every penny
