Remote Side of Life

8/15/2016

Finally making up my mind on the professional camera I need was the hardest decision I made and thought it would be a breeze in the park. I could remember the first week I used it... I don't know a thing and kept thinking to my self "why on earth did I waste so much money on this damn thing"? It took me a couple of months to realise getting a professional camera isn't all I need.. I need so much more.

Fast forward a year later, after talking to photographers, makeup artist and fellow bloggers, I upped my game by buying a tripod, lens and a couple of things to help me with photography. I still had the challenge of taking photos by myself as often times there's no one else to help me with it. Then came the canon app on iTunes that serves as a temporal remote which connects using wifi It brought the challenge of always seeing an iPad in my photos so I always took close up photos.

Youtube (God bless whoever created it) was the answer!!! I watched a couple of videos and found out about the canon remote and as usuall I needed to have it.
I searched high and low but couldn't find it anywhere, most people didn't even know what I was talking about I finally got it on amazon for $14. The main reason i bought this was to take full photos of myself without setting the timer.

The canon RC-6 wireless remote is a very simple device, controlled by just a button and a switch, it uses an infrared remote control that makes it possible to snap wirelessly from as far as 16' (4.8 m). The RC-6 will operate in either 2-second delay mode or will instantly take a shot. The RC-6 is only 2.5" (63.5 mm) tall and can fit easily into my pocket. It's a remote way to trigger your camera shutter without having to touch the camera useful when taking group shots with yourself in the frame, or when it's not possible to stand directly behind the camera at the time of capture. I use it to start and stop movie record, zoom in or out and take photos.

The only downside is as an Infrared device, they (camera and remote) normally need to see each other – often known as ‘line-of-sight’. Based on this, i can only use the RC-6 remote in front of the camera or around the sides. Which works perfectly because i don't intend to take a photo of myself from behind (lol).

You need this if you have EOS 5D Mk II, 5D Mk III, 5DS, 5DS R, 6D, 7D, 7D Mark II, 60D, 60Da, 70D, 100D, 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 600D, 650D, 700D, 750D, 760D, M, M3, 10, 100, 30, 30V, 33, 33V, 50, 50E, IX.
